About

Yanna Chen Miaoyan is a talented soprano who graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts with a Bachelor of Music (Honours) degree, studying under the guidance of soprano Ms. Ella Kiang. She furthered her education by completing a Master of Music degree with renowned soprano Prof. Nancy Yuen, and was honored as a recipient of the Welsh Male Voice Choir Scholarship.Ms. Chen participated in the Jockey Club Opera Hong Kong Young Artist Development and Education Programme from 2019 to 2022.

 

Ms. Chen has performed in various opera productions with Opera Hong Kong and The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. She made her debut with the Opera Hong Kong as Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro, followed by Pamina and Papagena in Die Zauberflöte, La Ciesca in Gianni Schicchi, The Mistress of the Novices in Suor Angelica, Adina in L'elisir d'amore, Despina in Cosi fan Tutte, and Frasquita in Carmen. Her latest role was Konstanze in Mozart’s The Abduction from the Seraglio.

 

In addition to her thriving performance career, Ms. Chen also contributes to the musical community as a vocal instructor at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts Junior Programme, nurturing the talents of aspiring young musicians.

 

Throughout her journey, Ms. Chen has had the privilege of participating in masterclasses led by esteemed artists such as Nelly Miricioiu, Joy Mammen, and Gun-Brit Barkmin. She also attended the Mozarteum International Summer Academy, studying under the guidance of Prof. Michèle Crider, further enhancing her musicality and artistic development.
